virtual switch ain't black box any more

VMworld 2009 is just around the corner. This year I'm hosting a technical talk.

Session: TA3521 - Thursday 2:00 - 3:30pm (9/3) Moscone Room 104
Title: vNetwork Monitoring, Troubleshooting, Security, and Management (with Live Demo)
Speaker: Howie Xu, Director of R&D for Core Networking

Abstract:

vNetwork (Virtual Switch and companions) is a critical component for contemporary Enterprise and Data Center networks and deserves first-class management capability.

With the release of vSphere 4, Nexus 1000V, and a rich set of products/tools coming (or coming soon) from vNetwork ecosystem, Virtual Switch will have greater and greater monitoring, troubleshooting, security, and management capabilities.

We will cover the following topics:

1) What troubleshooting and monitoring challenges people have faced in the past with Virtual Switch.

2) What "vNetwork Platform" changes we have made to tackle the manageability issues in a fundamental and game-changing way.

3) Live demo of innovative tools and products for vNetwork from VMware labs or 3rd party -- some for the first time in public!
